Prescription Policy

Effective Date: 31 July 2026

At Gyne.pk, patient safety and responsible prescribing are our highest priorities. This Prescription Policy explains how prescriptions are issued through our platform, the limitations of online prescribing, and the responsibilities of both patients and healthcare professionals.

By requesting or using a prescription issued through Gyne.pk, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted this Policy.

Prescription Eligibility

Prescriptions are issued only after an online medical consultation with a qualified healthcare professional. A prescription is provided only when, in the professional clinical judgment of the consulting doctor, it is appropriate and medically justified.

Issuing a prescription is not guaranteed. A healthcare professional may decline to prescribe medication if additional medical information, investigations, physical examination, or an in-person consultation is considered necessary.

Basis of Prescribing

Prescriptions issued through Gyne.pk are based on the clinical information available during the consultation, including:

  • Patient's signs and symptoms
  • History of Present Illness (HOPI)
  • Past medical history
  • Medication history
  • Allergies
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding status, where applicable
  • Laboratory reports, imaging, photographs, or other records voluntarily shared by the patient

As online consultations do not include a complete physical examination, prescribing decisions are made using the information provided by the patient at the time of consultation.

Types of Prescriptions

Depending on the consultation and clinical assessment, Gyne.pk may provide:

Text-Based Medication Advice

For appropriate over-the-counter (OTC) medicines or general supportive treatment, the healthcare professional may provide text-based medication advice through chat or other approved communication channels. Such advice is intended only for the patient receiving the consultation.

Digital Signed Prescription

Where a prescription medicine is clinically appropriate, Gyne.pk may issue a digitally signed prescription prepared by a licensed healthcare professional. The prescription may include the doctor's name, professional qualifications, registration details (where applicable), signature, consultation date, and prescribed medicines.

Prescription Validity

Digitally signed prescriptions issued through Gyne.pk are intended to be presented at licensed pharmacies in Pakistan.

While our prescriptions are prepared for use throughout Pakistan, the final decision to dispense any medicine always rests with the individual pharmacy and the applicable laws, regulations, and professional obligations governing pharmacists. Gyne.pk cannot guarantee that every pharmacy will dispense every prescribed medicine.

Responsible Prescribing

Our healthcare professionals prescribe medicines responsibly and may:

  • Recommend non-drug treatment where appropriate.
  • Recommend laboratory investigations before prescribing.
  • Decline requests for medically unnecessary medicines.
  • Decline repeat prescriptions without an appropriate clinical review.
  • Refer patients for physical examination or hospital care when required.

Controlled and Restricted Medicines

Gyne.pk does not guarantee the prescription of controlled, narcotic, psychotropic, habit-forming, or otherwise restricted medicines through online consultations. Such medicines are prescribed only where legally permitted and clinically justified, and may require an in-person evaluation.

Patient Responsibilities

Patients are responsible for:

  • Providing complete and accurate medical information.
  • Informing the doctor about allergies, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and existing medical conditions.
  • Informing the doctor about all current medications.
  • Reading and following prescription instructions carefully.
  • Taking medicines only as directed.
  • Seeking immediate medical attention if serious side effects or allergic reactions occur.

Patients must not alter, modify, copy, reuse, or share prescriptions issued in another person's name.

Prescription Expiry

Some prescriptions may have a limited validity period depending on the medication prescribed, the patient's condition, and applicable legal or professional requirements. Patients should obtain medicines promptly and attend follow-up consultations when advised.

No Guarantee of Dispensing

Although Gyne.pk strives to issue complete and professionally prepared prescriptions, dispensing decisions remain solely with the licensed pharmacist. A pharmacy may refuse to dispense medication where required by law, professional standards, stock availability, or patient safety considerations.

Misuse of Prescriptions

Gyne.pk reserves the right to refuse future services where there is evidence of:

  • False or misleading medical information.
  • Prescription fraud or forgery.
  • Misuse or alteration of prescriptions.
  • Attempts to obtain medicines through deception.
  • Any activity that violates applicable laws or professional standards.

Limitation of Liability

Prescriptions are issued based on the clinical information available during the consultation. Gyne.pk, its healthcare professionals, and its affiliates are not responsible for adverse outcomes arising from inaccurate information provided by the patient, failure to follow medical advice, misuse of medicines, self-medication, or failure to obtain recommended in-person medical care.

Nothing in this Policy limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

Gyne.pk may revise this Prescription Policy from time to time to reflect changes in medical practice, legal requirements, or operational procedures. The updated version will be published on this page with a revised Effective Date.
